SPX Spotlight 2015: Christine Skelly

It's another entry in Panel Patter's SPX SPOTLIGHT series! We've been highlighting creators, publishers, and comics related to SPX since the site opened in 2008, but 2015 marks our fifth year of extensive coverage that is unlike what you'll find elsewhere! It's a great way to create your own personal guide for the show on September 19th and 20th, 2015, in Bethesda, Maryland. Don't miss it! You can find all our SPXSPOTLIGHT posts here.

Christine Skelly has a flair for the dramatic and surreal. Her artwork is bold, eye capturing, and a bit of a creative mind bender. She uses a variety of mediums and subject matter, making her creations always different.

Skelly also rocks a serious twitter game (@SkellyScribbles). She posts about her progress and current projects. I love when artists do this. It gives insight into the creative process that I find fascinating. She shows her process from the sketching to lettering to final exporting. And, she shouts out some of her own favorite artists.

Currently, Skelly is working on a project called Mt. Olyphant. In it, a man wakes up in a psychological institution and doesn't have too much knowledge about how he got there. But it's clearly a dangerous place and there are gods involved. Mt. Olyphant has some super dramatic scenes and it's layout captures a lot of the story's dynamism. Better yet, you can read it for free on her website.

How could you resist? (Answer: Just don't.)
