Rose City Roll Call: Monkeybrain Makes a Splash

Rose City Roll Call! Cambot! Gypsy! Tom Servo! Croooooow! Periscope! Dark Horse! Kurt Busiek! Ooooooooooonnnnni! It's another Panel Patter feature on creators and publishers who will be at Rose City Comic Con! You can find all our features for the show right here!

It's hard to believe that just a few short years ago, we were talking about the debut of Monkeybrain, the digital-publishing brainchild of co-publishers Chris Roberson and Allison Baker, a husband and wife team who not only have great taste in comics but are also two incredibly cool people.

The company has grown, with a ton of titles ranging from regulars like Amelia Cole and Edison Rex (both original launch titles) to one-shot benefits like Panels for Primates. Many books have made it into trade, like Red Light Properties, Knuckleheads, and Red Panda.

Others are not quite as regular, but are still amazing books, such as Prime-8s, Army of Dr. Moreau, the Real West anthology, and Double Life of Miranda Turner. Oh, and yeah, there's that Bandette book that won an Eisner. No big deal, right?

While Monkeybrain doesn't have a table at the show, many of the creators involved will be at Rose City. Here's a list of some of the people with Monkeybrain Books that you can meet, either tabling or at panels:

  • Chris Roberson (Edison Rex)
  • Adam Knave (Amelia Cole, Artful Daggers)
  • DJ Kirkbride and Nick Brokenshire (Amelia Cole)
  • Kurt Busiek and Steve Lieber (Thoughts on a Winter's Morning -my personal fave MB story)
  • Jamie S. Rich (Double Life of Miranda Turner)
  • Natalie Nourigat (Tallymarks)
  • Colleen Coover and Paul Tobin (Bandette)
  • Christopher Sebela and Ibrahim Moustafa (High Crimes)
  • David Walker, Carl Sciacchitano (Army of Dr. Moreau)
  • Shawn Aldridge (GoGetters)
  • Joshua Williamson (Masks and Mobsters)

In addition Monkeybrain has a feature panel at 1pm in Panel Room 2, where the creators will talk about collaboration and working with Monkeybrain.

Make sure you look for these folks at Rose City!
