The Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo (MICE) is returning in person this coming weekend! In a new location!
I love MICE and have attended many times over the years. I was even a panelist one year! So I'm thrilled to see that the event is returning, in a new location. I loved the old location at Lesley University, but there was only so big the event could get, given the size constraints of that location. I'm sure that the new location at Boston University (my alma mater!) will be more spacious and afford more room to grow. There are even pre-show events coming up this week, both on Thursday 10/20 - Making Comics with Jarrett J. Crosoczka and Cancel Culture: Banning Books Edition.

MICE, the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo, is back and in person
Boston, MA – Since 2010, MICE has been an annual community celebration of creativity and expression – the biggest and longest-running independent comics festival in New England. After a 2-year pandemic hiatus, the show will return on October 22 - 23, 2022 to a new venue: Boston University’s Fuller Building, at 808 Commonwealth Ave. Boston, MA. As ever, MICE will host a dazzling and diverse crowd of independent comics creators from Boston and beyond. Over 180 exhibitors will gather to share and sell an enormous range of comics, from hand-crafted zines to published graphic novels. Admission is free and open to all ages!
Not to be missed is MICE’s free-to-all extensive programming which includes hands-on workshops, where beginners can get an introduction to the medium of comics, and even experienced creators can explore the craft from scripting to inking to Risograph printing. Panel discussions explore themes and issues in independent comics today such as a celebration of challenged LGBTQIA+ graphic novels and a spotlight on the Puerto Rican comics scene.
