Welcome
to Catch it at the Comic Shop, where the Panel Patter team looks at
what's coming out at your favorite store or digital device this week.
Each one of us that participates picks up to five items due out this
week, with a little bit about why we like them. (NOTE: We use
solicitation material for this, so if we miss creators, please talk to your publisher!)
Sometimes we might only have a few items to share, other weeks, keeping
it to five will make for hard choices. Here's what the team wanted to
highlight this week...
James' Picks:
East of West #41 by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin, published by Image Comics
This comic is so good, and I'm so glad it's back. It's a complex story of politics, religion, betrayal, faith, magic, and the complex movements of nations. All that, and it has some of the coolest art you'll ever see in a comic.
Tom Scioli is a singluar talent, and he's brought his "underground Kirby" style to the world of Go-Bots. This has been a fun book so far, and the last issue had a huge twist that I'm excited to follow up on.
Black Badge has quietly been one of the best comics around, It's the story of a secret group of Boy Scouts who undertake global stealth reconnaissance missions, and all of the things that go wrong. It's got mystery, drama, secret organizations, hidden motives, and some truly wonderful art from Tyler and Hilary Jenkins.
